- The public proposal
Posted on 7/31/2014 10:12:54 AM by Rachel
My now-fiance and I had been dating for almost 3 years, and we'd already talked about getting married to the point that I knew he'd propose, but didn't anticipate the when or how. For Christmas, I suggested a few things to his family, and his dad ended up giving us a gift card to our favorite restaurant, where we'd gone for our first date. (As it turns out, my fiance bought the card and told his dad to give it to us as a present so I wouldn't be suspicious!) We went out the next night for a romantic meal. Just before we ordered dessert, he slipped away "to the bathroom". A minute or two later, I heard his voice behind me from a microphone. He got the attention of everyone in the restaurant and gave a short speech about how much better his life was with me in it, then he did the traditional ... [+]

From November 26-30 my now fiance (more on that in a second) visited the east coast again to see many of our friends and our favorite band (whom I also consider friends) Circa Survive two nights in a row at Irving Plaza in New York City. Now I had planned this trip around many things, but one thing especially…to finally propose to my girlfriend. Months of planning went into this and talking to friends to get everything worked out. I almost didn’t go with my original plan and there was almost a last minute change (that was out of my control) but I’m glad I went through with my original plan. I proposed on stage at the show on November 27th. The place got so loud and I honestly did not expect that. I was nervous and I tend to not do well in public speaking situations. I got a bunch of my other ... [+]
- Hay, will you marry me?
Posted on 8/7/2013 12:25:23 PM by Heather
My boyfriend owns a cattle farm and one Sunday he told me we were going to take a ride in his friend's airplane to look at his land. We were flying over and I looked out the window and he had spelled out "Marry Me" in hay bales in his pasture! Of course, I said yes.
- Say it with a poem
Posted on 6/12/2013 3:22:14 PM by Shelley Thomas
I had broken up with my boyfriend because he was so afraid of the C(ommitment) word. We lived next door to each other and he was quite happy with our living arrangements - I wasn't. After I broke up with him, he thought about it for a while and then began wooing me with poetry. It took 16 days/16 poems. This is the one that broke me:
her soft skin is now touched
it used to be her sweet face
held in my hands
while looking into each other
... no more no more
easy warmth against me
in mornings quiet
or passionate response
to a coarse touch.
of how light she carried,
the joy of her loving
holding her small hand
We will be celebrating our 25th anniversary next week with a vow renewal ceremony.

We went to middle school together. We had not been in touch in 25yrs. One evening I happened to be out for happy hour, it wasn't generally my happy hour choice but this 1 time I happened to be there, so was he. We hugged, said hello and talked pretty much all night as we parted ways,we exchanged numbers.
We were having dinner at one of my favorite restaurant's, Longhorn's Steakhouse and we were talking so much that we were the last people in the restaurant. Eventually the waiter showed me one hand and said "Here is a piece of cheesecake we didn't want to throw it away." I immediately said, "thanks thats nice but can you wrap it up and bring the check". Then he bought his other arm around and had a plate covered up with a napkin. The waiter said "and I have this" and took off the napkin and ... [+]

My then boyfriend, now fiance.(the romantic, big teddy bear.) came to spend Christmas with me and my family. So Christmas eve day we had decided to go up to the mountains and play in the snow and as we were walking in the forest and by the river, it started to snow, it about sunset and it just so beautiful. The trees covered with snow and snowflakes floating through the air and that was when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I will never forget that day.

- Much prettier when you smile
Posted on 10/15/2012 3:53:55 PM by Monica
I met my Fiance while out in the middle of the Pacific ocean on my first deployment. I always saw him and thought he had the kindest big blue eyes I had ever seen. I wasn’t the only one, there were so many girls after him but he seemed really quiet and didn’t really talk to them much. I figured he must have a gf. One day I was just really home sick and I went to the Mess Decks (Cafeteria) one night and I sat down and put my head down. I heard a voice saying "are you alright?" I shook my head yes without looking up. He said "oh, ok...are you sure?" I popped my head up and saw it was my big blue eyed crush. I instantly started blushing and smiled at him. He said "see, you are much prettier when you smile. No more frowning". He made me feel a lot better. We started sitting together for meals ... [+]

We were in New York City and attended a Yankees baseball game. He kept mentioning how clear the large screen was and how it was the largest one in any stadium. In the middle of the 5th inning I heard my name being announced over the PA system and looked at the screen and saw the marriage proposal!!

I met my fiancé September of 2011, but we did not really talk much until December. I noticed him come into my church on a Wednesday night. He’s a tall, handsome red-headed Cajun with green eyes…
All the young adults in our church were hanging out on a very regular basis at that time, and next thing I know, He walks in the door with the rest of the group. Our eyes met and locked for the first time, and I knew there was something special about him.
We all started playing music and singing and worshipping Jesus, and all the sudden, I felt this supernatural connection with this guy that I did not even know that well. It was bizarre, but a few others noticed it too, right away.
One night as we were all hanging out together, he grabbed my phone and started dialing. I asked him who he planned ... [+]

My boyfriend and I were at the grocery store when there was an
announcement on the loud speaker saying there was a massive spill in
aisle 6. I continued shopping, buy my boyfriend for some reason really
wanted to check it out. I had no idea why he cared to see a spill so
badly, but we walked over to aisle 6 and there on the floor in rose
petals was written, "Marry me, Carol." I was speechless and turned
around to see my boyfriend on one knee smiling up at me.

My then-boyfriend blindfolded me and took me for a ride in the car.
When he took the blindfold off, I saw we were at the airport. We get
out of the car and all of a sudden, he's on one knee and telling me he
can't bear a day without me so I should choose anywhere in the world
to go so we can elope. We had always talked about running off and
getting married, so it was a dream come true. We went to Fiji by the

If there is one thing I need, it's my coffee. I can't go a day without
it. I always make sure I have a container or two in my house, but one
morning, I woke up and all I found were empty containers. I could have
sworn I had some left, but I had no time to search. My boyfriend was
over and him seeing me so upset told me to get in the car because he
was taking me right to the coffee shop a few blocks away, (which is
actually my favorite coffee place ever). I normally refuse to go out
to get coffee in the morning because I don't want to be late for work,
but times were desperate. When i stepped inside, the entire coffee
shop was covered in flowers and on one of the tables was a cup of
coffee next to a little ring box. My boyfriend walks over, takes the
ring, gets down on one knee and ... [+]

One morning I woke up to music playing in the living room. I got up to
turn it off, thinking I had left it on last night, only to see my
boyfriend down on one knee. He had set up the whole room to look like
it had on our first date at prom. Yes, we're high school sweethearts.
:) He asked me to marry him and when I said yes, he put on our song
and started dancing with me like we were teenagers again.

My fiancé and I both have several tattoos. We had discussed getting a matching tattoo of a half heart on our hands so when we held hands it would make a complete heart (SUPER corny, I know!). Justin came home from work (or so I thought) and asked me if I wanted my Christmas present. I hassled him about how he always gives me a hard time about waiting until Christmas to open my presents or give presents so he hesitated. Finally, I said I wanted to open my present. He went into the other room and quickly returned. He said, "Don't be mad, but I got another tattoo." I instantly thought that he got the half heart and my present was that he was going to pay for my matching tattoo. I was confused when he put his foot out in front of me. The tattoo was fresh and still had a bandage on it. ... [+]

How we met
We met the new old fashioned way... On the net. I was on the net and I saw this picture of a sweet and kind looking man with his daughter so I sent him a wink. Well one thing lead to the next and we went on our first date!
We met at the mall and just looked around then went to see Paranormal Activity 2.
By the end of the night I was praying he would call me back and he did! He was so sweet and a perfect gentleman.

How we got engaged

We met camping while visiting mutual friend at the campsite. We dated for 2 year' and on the Christmas of that 2nd year, we spent Christmas Eve and Christmas together. We had a beautiful tree, and I had placed all the gifts I had gotten him under the tree the night before. Christmas morning we got up like little children and rushed to open our presnts. There his present were, but I didn't see anything for me. By the time he tore through all his presents, I was starting to get a little irritated - well ok - a lot irritated (though I didn't say anything to him about it). After he played me for a loooong while, he ask me if I was going to open my present. There is none I said looking through all the unwrapped papers and HIS gifts. After he played cat and mouse with me some more he finally relented, ... [+]
