Top 9 December Birthday Party Theme Ideas

Milena Kukurekovic

December, the coldest month of the year, is here. It's a time when people love to stay indoors and curl up in their blankets.

However, contrary to this, other people also think December is a great time to throw lavish birthday parties. So, if you plan to organize a December party but need help thinking of ideas, don't worry; we have you covered with our unique December party ideas.

1. Zodiac-Themed Party

People born in December have a star sign of Sagittarius or Capricorn. If you are one of those people or have that special Sagittarian or Capricorn, then it's the best time to throw a zodiac-themed party to surprise them.

You can include Sagittarius or Capricorn themes, including cake, cupcakes, balloons, and even decorations. You can also incorporate a zodiac theme into the invitation cards.

2. Confetti Party

Incorporate confetti into everything. A confetti party is the best way to add a splash of color to a child's birthday party. But, of course, you can also throw a confetti party for an adult.

Stuff your invitation cards with confetti, fill plain balloons with a rainbow of colors, scatter confetti on the table, and fill mason jars with colorful decorations and confetti to add a pop of colors around the house.

How about adding colors to your food also? You can also turn the food into confetti, so don't just focus on the decoration! You can fill cake pops with sprinkles inside and out, dunk Oreos in chocolate, or dip marshmallows in sprinkles. Take out your mini appetizer plates. If you don't have any, you can get them from Smarty and serve your guests colorful snacks to keep them busy while the main meal is served.

As for your drinks, you can also add various colors to them to keep up with the theme of your party. Another lovely idea would be to include multi-colored cups on your table. We recommend you use mini plastic cups as there is no risk/ of breakages and damage. Treat your guests to hot cups of coffee or hot chocolate.

3. The Winter Horror

Winter is a time of darkness and dreariness, as it is quiet everywhere.

This December, add some thrill to your party, including a horror theme for your birthday celebration.

Turn every corner of your place into a haunted house.

Set up a spooky scene using cold and dim lights to reflect December's cold and chilly atmosphere. To welcome your guests, decorate several areas with Halloween-themed décor. Make sure your guests don't know the party's theme so that when they arrive, you can scare them and have some fun.

As for your cake, you can get a black cake because black goes well with a dark theme. Set your table before guests arrive, and ensure that your dinner set also goes with the party's theme. You can buy a fantastic mini dinner set from Smarty to add beauty to your table. Of course, your guests will need spoons and forks to eat their favorite snacks and meal, so remember to buy mini cutlery.

4. Frozen Theme Party

Why not take inspiration from the frozen theme and host a lovely December party? White walls, ceilings, and furniture always make a room look mesmerizing and give off winter vibes more than anything else. Then, of course, you can watch frozen and decorate the place with a lot of fake snow and white satin.

Cover your table with a white tablecloth, and choose white napkins and decorations. Try to use mini plastic supplies in white or ice blue color. In the end, ensure that the cake you get is also white.

5. Gingerbread House Party

Hosting a gingerbread home decorating party is a fun way to encourage guests of any age to make their own party favors. Set up a variety of candies and other ingredients for gingerbread houses so that people may create their masterpieces to take home. Your guests will spend most of the evening working on their lovely gingerbread houses because it is an evening activity.

6. Hot Chocolate Bar Themed Party

This is a beautiful addition to any December birthday party for anyone of any age. Everyone might use a warm beverage to warm up their bones as winter approaches. Set up a table so guests can choose the type of hot chocolate they want (dark, milk, or white), and then you can offer them marshmallows, cinnamon sticks, or candy canes as different mix-ins or toppings.

7. Snowflake Craft Party

Making snowflakes is a simple and affordable activity that keeps kids entertained at any December birthday party. Have everyone fold their silver, white, or blue paper into a snowflake shape, then cut it out to create a customized snowflake.

You can let guests take them home as party favors or hang them around the house to give a touch of winter décor. Then, while they are busy making their snowflakes, you can serve them their favorite snacks and coffee to keep them entertained.

8. Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland is a classic theme for any December birthday celebration since it celebrates all that is wonderful about the time of year. Create homemade snowflakes and pure white and silver icicles to decorate your home. Provide toasty dishes and wintery mocktails to get everyone in the winter party spirit.

For a lovely, refined appearance, you may spray-paint tree branches silver so they resemble miniature trees and hang tiny tea lights from the trees and silver or blue balloons from the ceiling. You can also include polar bears, penguins, and igloos in your decoration to make your house look like a winter wonderland.

9. Ice Skating/Sledding

For your child's birthday, taking a bunch of children ice skating or sledding is a great way to get them outside and entertained. Go sledding or ice skating for the day, then gather at your place for hot cocoa and cake before everyone leaves for home.

Party on, Smarties! With love, Smarty had a Party!
