Wow! What a fantastic company! Placed order, shipped and received all in just a few days! I was asked to help decorate the reception hall for a dear family friend on a very tight budget. Not only was I able to find almost everything I needed but it was all very reasonably priced and of great quality. Our tables are going to be elegant and beautiful from the chaircovers and sashes to the silver flatware. My worst date was actually a 3rd date with a guy who sold me my cell phone. The first date was to a concert and included a 20 minute car ride that was like pulling teeth for conversation. It ended well enough so I agreed to a second afternoon date of lunch and a walk through a park...again the conversation fell a little short and involved too many awkward silence moments for my liking. Clearly, agreeing to a third date was all me to blame. We started the date with a dinner at a BYO where I brought a bottle of wine since we agreed I knew more about vino. Dinner conversation was a struggle but the wine helped me get through it. 2 glasses in he tells me he's feeling kind of drunk...I barely had a buzz. Regardless, he pays for dinner like a gentlemen and we head to a Hard Rock Cafe for some after dinner drinks. This time, 2 Mich Ultra's in (I moved onto the hard stuff at this point) he starts to open up about his childhood and how he was fostered by a horrendous woman...who used to lock him in a closet...and "touch" him. At this point he is crying and telling me he thinks I am his sole mate. The night ends with him helping me into a cab and attempting and awkward kiss that lands on my cheek/chin. Now, I am not heartless or insensitive to his horrific childhood but as far as I'm concerned it was a little too much information for a 3rd date that was proceeded by moments of uncomfortable silence and would be more suited for a close friend and/or therapist. After a few days of ignoring him blowing up my phone, I finally told him that it just wasn't going to work out.

We ordered every thing for our daughters wedding last Aug. It all came in record time. Some of the glasses were damaged in shipping. When I called and explain the deal, not only did they resend what was damaged they sent many extras. My guest were impressed with every thing we got from Smartys. After ending a 5 year relationship, I had no interest in dating for awhile, and just wanted to go out and enjoy life. A guy friend had invited me out for drinks, and we ended up meeting up with two other male friends of his. I started talking to one of the guys who ended up being incredibly smart, funny, and was from the next town over from me a few states away. After talking for a few hours, he asks me if I am dating anyone. I tell him no, and he asks, "Do you want to?" I explained that I wasn't really interested in dating given that I had just ended a relationship. He persists and says, "How about a 'non-date?' We could hang out. Go swimming." So finally, I think, clearly this must be fortuitous meeting this remarkable man, why not agree to a date? We agree to a date for a week in the future. At the end of the night, he offers to walk me home, and I decline. An hour later, he calls to make sure I got home ok. I think, "What a thoughtful guy." The next day, he facebook friends me and I send him a text saying I'm looking forward to our "non-date" in a week. And that's when the good part ends... By the following day, he unfriends me from facebook and never responds to the text. Upon urging from my friends, I google him and find out he has been arrested in the past for multiple alcohol related charges and pulling a gun on his neighbors who were partying too loudly. I count my blessings and assume he must have thankfully changed his mind. A few weeks later, I am attending a party, when this guy shows up with a group of people. I decide to ignore him and get wasted with my friends instead. Towards the end of the night, one of the girls he came in with walks up to me and says, "Never talk to my boyfriend again." So apparently in addition to him being a criminal, he has a girlfriend. Awesome. When I tell my guy friend who introduced me to the guy about all of this, he laughs and says, "The other friend of mine really liked this guy's girlfriend, so we were pushing you to hook up with him, so he could sleep with her. We told him you weren't interested in anything serious." Best non-date ever.

Thanksgiving 2011. The plan was to test the plates and utensils months before my daughters wedding. The plates were so beautiful it inspired me to set a beautiful table (I had to quickly get this picture before my boys rushed the table – that’s why the candle and utensils are crooked. I have emailed these two pics (one with flash and one without) to many relatives, many thought I got new china. It came off so well that I think I’ll do this every Thanksgiving, using a different set each time.

We made mini golf centerpieces with fresh sod, tees and golf balls. Take a plastic frame and fill with the sod. Hot glue ribbon around it prior to filling. Very cute for a guy or girl.

So my friend had met this seemingly really nice guy online. He was planning to take her out for her birthday but didn't want to come to town alone, he lived 2 hours away. So she told him she had a friend for his friend, ME! I get a call from her asking me to do her a big birthday favor and go out with his friend. Normally I would never go out on a blind date as I don't trust other people to set me up, they are always wrong about who I will get alone with. Anyways I agreed since it was her birthday. She tells me great he already has my number. Well he finally calls. Seems like a nice guy. We talk for a while. I am thinking this could actually be fun. We talked about the usual. You know, whats your favorite movie, what do you do for fun, what do you do for work. Well he tells me he is a carnival worker. Yes, thats right, a CARNEY. Fine, its just a job and nothing to judge anyone on right? So the next day he calls me at like 7 am. Just wanted to talk. Ok... so I tell him I have a bunch of house work to do and I will call him later. He called me about a dozen times by 3pm. I am now trying to figure out a way to get out of this blind date. My friend talks to her date and he says, "oh he just gets like that when he is nervous, he likes you". OK fine. Date night finally comes. My friend and I go meet up with the guys at the karaoke place. And there he is. He described himself as being tall, just over 6' with short brown hair, bright blue eyes and broad shoulders. Well he was tall, much more than 6', almost disturbingly tall. And his short brown hair, more like bald, can't really say he had bright blue eyes cuz they were so bloodshot. As for broad shoulders, he was built like the scarecrow. Now I am not shallow but carney work suited him. Still, I love karaoke and I am going to make the best of this situation. Or so I thought. Most men who take a woman to a bar will buy her a drink, well he was broke, fine. But he didn't even offer to get me a free glass of water. He spent the entire night trying to rub up on my leg. When I didn't respond to that the way he wanted he started to cry. He then got drunk on tequila, with money he stole from his friends wallet and spent some time in the bathroom screaming "Why won't she love me!" His friend was so ticked about him stealing money from his wallet that he drove home without him. My date proceeded to call me around 3am, asking for a ride home because he was stuck walking. When I said no he hung up, fine by me. The next day he calls me to apologize. I asked him how he got home. First he says he walked. I ask him how he walked more than 120 miles in about 5 hours. He finally says he got a ride, lets the name slip, turns out its his girlfriend who gave him a ride. This is why I don't do blind dates, my friend still owes me a huge favor for even ever passing my number on to that guy.

A guy took a lot of courage and asked me out on a date while I was working. He seemed really nervous and though he wasn't very attractive to me he seemed sincere and I wanted to give him a chance. He didn't have anything to write my number down so I had to write his down and call him the night of our date to find out where he was going to take me. When I call he asks me to come to him and I end up driving a half an hour to get to his House! so that I could Pick Him Up, and drive us to a restaurant (which I picked because he said he didn't know anything that was around his house) The night got worse when he tells me he used to be an alcoholic but that having his 2 beers shouldn't be that bad. I also found out that he held a minimum wage job that his brother got him, lived in the basement of his brothers house and did nothing but watch TV when he wasn't working, but didn't pay attention to any shows that he watched. The night was just about done, filled with awkward pauses and me trying to carry the conversation. When we were leaving the restaurant he tells me he can't wait to have more kids, because he never gets to see his son and daughter, because they live an hour away. Turns out he hadn't seen them in a year because he couldn't find a ride! Needless to say I was glad he never got my number or found out where I lived.

I actually had the nerve of trying to date an ex again. We first dated when I was 16 and 2 months later we broke up because he was a control freak. Well, 4 years had passed and we had bumped into each other again. He just wanted me to come along to pick out a christmas present for an angel tree child and then we would head to a Chick-fil-A afterwards to eat, just a casual date. I agreed. Well, after coming from Toys R Us and Marshalls, we head to the car in the parking lot and got in. The car did not crank. We spent over 30 minutes in the parking lot trying to fix the car. I ended up getting a ride with another guy I was talking to who is actually my fiance' now (I walked somewhere else for him to pick me up out of respect). All of our dates have ended badly and it just put a bad taste in my mouth about us being together.

When my friends linens fell through the day before her wedding, she was angry and resigned to plain banquet hall chairs. With all the confidence in the world, I told her not to worry because I would take care of it. Who knew how hard it would be to find local linens in the price range she had budgeted??? I called every rental company I could find. Thankfully my internet search turned up Smarty Had A Party and they saved the day! The wonderful customer service rep (i apologize for not remembering her name) was extremely helpful in finding the right items to meet the budget. Not only that, she was able to arrange overnight shipping to PA so that we had them in time for the ceremony. Her prices beat everyone and their shipping was the cheapest anyone had quoted me. You can be sure that I'll be using this company again and recommending them to everyone. I can't thank them enough for saving the day for my friend's wedding.

We split a 12 pack and a friend drove us around. We were in the back seat, making out. Suddenly, I felt sick. I turned towards the window and threw-up in my mouth. Alot. I managed to swallow it, asked for some gum and we continued making out. It was awful.

I was the average guy in college. Average looks, in good physical shape--not overweight, clean car (but certainly not new), but a member of the most popular fraternity on campus. I can count at least FIVE dates that I had so women could attend the parties with me and meet my fraternity brothers. At least three of them left with the "studs". I would open the doors, pay for the meals and movies and on at least more than one occasion showed up at the dorm to pick my date up with a single rose in hand. I guess that was too corny for most of you hot chicks. Better off that it didn't work out, because I met a really sweet girl who didn't care about my car, how tall I was, or whether I made the varstity team. Now 20 years later I am happily married, quite successful in a national franchise (I'm taking your money through your kids; sweet!), and most of the old boys are fat, out of shape, and have average jobs. I'm on this site because I'm shopping for dinnerware I can throw away on the holidays, so my lovely wife doesn't have to clean up a huge mess while I watch football (sound familiar?). So, the next time a "nice guy" asks you out and ditch him in favor of the flavor of the week, you may be passing up a real diamond in the rough.

While in college a meet a guy through a mutual friend. He seemed very nice and intelligent and he asked me out on a date so I said yes. We went to a Chinese buffet and I noticed someone there that I knew. Mercy, the worst date I recall clearly was when I was in twenties. I fell head over heels for this really cute guy that worked construction. You know the type blue eyes, blond hair, golden skin with a perfect smile and a body too die for with rippling muscles, the tough guy type! I was shocked he eyed me and asked me the mouse of a girl I was out on date. So, the date was made day/time ect. I dolled up and got myself ready and waited, first off the guy was 30mins late, I let that slide, but when he suggested we take my car and not his, I thought twice and let that slide too, you see he had a boat of car and it smelled of fuel inside the car from a fuel leak. so, I drove my firebird, thinking. I would have some control of the date if this guy got to touchy feely, well I drove us to the resturant and found out quickly he already had been there and ate that evening ( an hour before our date time)he explained he was hungry and couldn't wait ( the truth was, I found out later on, was that he could eat a ton of food, and he didn't want me knowing this fact). I thought how rude, but he was willing to sit. while, I ate which was a buffet cafe type of place, as we started to enter (because I was hungry now)and I was going too let it slide again! the owner quickly came to the door and said "NO you eat too much!You go home now!" I was shocked as the owner pushed us both out and quickly locked the door behind us! The hour was late and few places where open now (small town), so I was left hungry as we headed off to the local bar, I should've know better the flags were waving, we get to the bar and I have a few drinks (I'm a light weight)and several baskets of popcorn for filler, we danced some and before I knew it, I was left alone with a few of my friends. but now I was dateless. later found out from a guy friend That I was, car-less too, that witness my date taking my car keys from my purse. The jerk took my keys and went to the airport (how did I find this out, the jerk told my guy friend what he was about to do) to pick up his guy friend and then went to his home in my firebird. I had another mutal-friend drive me to his house, where he was/had been partying with several of his friends. I had to go through a window becasue no one would open the door for me, so after I climbed through an open window (determined to get my keys back) I wondered around through a house I didn't know looking for my car keys among beer cans,whiskey bottles and geasy car parts, tons of trash and dirty clothes, and drunken guys laying all over the place past out. When I found this guy (my so-called date) he was laying on face down drunk in the middle of his bedroom floor. I searched his pockets found my keys and quickly left the house by way of the front door this time, it gets worse, I'm about a block from his place when the PD pull me over, I was reported by his out of towm friend for B&E, and stealing car keys and my own firebird!By the time this was all cleared up (hours later), it was daylight! That following afternoon, I got a call from this guy asking me for another date. I quicky hung up and had his car towed away as an abandon eye-sore! Bad date...Worse date ever!...And, here's the kicker...I did date him again a year later, after he grew up some,cleaned up his act and proved he was the depenable honest man with a romantic passionate heart.And, Yes all that happen before was honestly explained, He honestly had car problems and it was by my choice to drive my car, the dinner thing was explainable too, by his pure embrassment and he did offer to feed me, the dancing part was nice, taking the car wasn't right, but he honestly thought the quick drive to the samll airport and back wouldn't take more than 10mins (it only takes 10mins to drive across town here)and he would be right back for our date, the passing out thing, it was a mixture of exhaustion and drinking, come too find out he is a lightweight and three worms at the bottom of the bottle don't help a man sober up, poor excuse but grateful he didn't drive my car and wreck it in a drunken state and kill myself. As for the PD problem he cleared that up on the B&E part without blinking twice, he defended me! As for me having his car towed, he just smiled and said I did him a favor and forced him to buy a good truck. It took him a year of solid chasing, flowers,poems and waiting for me to cool off before he had another date, the second date he knew I was the one for him and proposed. And, we did marry and have been married for 20yrs this coming 1/22/12. So, the first date was horrible no doubt, but the years since have been amazing!

My worst date ever was when my boyfriend waited for me after a basketball game, I was a cheerleader, after the game we were driving through a woody remote area. It was late and it was very foggy. As we drove down the rode, a horse appeared out of the middle of no were and was running down the center of the road. The horse would not get out of our way, and we couldn't go around due to the narrow winding road. We were forced to follow him for what seamed like an hour. When my date finally got out of the car to try and catch him, the horse reared up and hit him in the face with his hoof. Needless to say, we never made it to our friends house and spent our first date in the emergency room, with my date getting stitches.

Here are my top 3 worst dates. Age 18- Valentine’s Day rolled around and this guy I had been crushing on for some time, asked me on a date. I was very excited and had my best friend make me over for the night. I was a little late getting ready and I told him it had taken me two hours to get ready. When he picked me up he said "It took you two hours to look like that?" (Why I didn't slap him right there is beyond me.) Then I get in his truck and realize his mom was in the car. He explains that we are dropping her off at her boyfriends. I was confused but okay with that. After we drop her off, he asks me what we are planning on doing. I calmly explain that if he hasn't made reservations yet, then there was a good chance everything would be full and we wouldn't be able to do anything. After checking several restaurants, we finally decided to just go to the movies. He picks out a movie "Are we there yet" (LAME LAME LAME) that starts TWO FREAKING HOURS later. While we are waiting, he goes to the arcade section of the movie theater. I got to watch him play DDR. Finally our movie is being seated, and you'll never guess what he gets out of his pocket. A freaking game boy. Now i'll be honest and say im a geek for mario brothers, so I asked if I could play (thinking maybe I should lighten up right?) he ignores me and plays until the movie starts. I am bored to tears at this horrible movie, until all of a sudden his hand-holding starts to turn into kissing and then touchy-touchy. I was not comfortable with that. So I stopped him several times. The worst part was when I was kissing him this old couple was in my view and they were blatantly watching us. Creepy. I dated this guy for 4 years, so really who's the idiot? Age - 20 I started hitting the clubs in the summer. I honestly did not go to pick up guys, it was just really great dancing with friends. Eventually one of the bouncers who had really caught my eye asked for my number. (He was also a local cop, and ooo do I love a man in uniform!) I thought that he was a mature type, and not the one the play games, since he called me the same night to make sure it was my number, and to see if I got home safely. Finally, a mature guy! Right? Wrong. On our date, I drove to his apartment to meet up with him. However, that was the meeting place. He had invited his best friend to watch a movie with us.... Casino Royale. This might have been acceptable, except they talked about the women in the movie, and you KNOW what I mean when I say talked. He also kept messing with the screen resolution the ENTIRE movie! It was so obnoxious. He also gave me the weirdest goodnight kiss, he waited till I was in my car to leave, and leaned in the window. Age - 21 I finally thought, maybe I should pick out the guy instead of them picking me... So I got this guys number who had recently been hitting on me, and he asked me on a date. He wanted to go to a specific restaurant, which I had never been too. We get there and the place is amazing. But the prices are obnoxious. He kinda hints that he hasn't dated much so I'm thinking he's just trying to impress or whatever. Heck I'll take it. But during the entire date he keeps checking his phone. And I mean 30 -40 times. It was so rude. Then the waiter brings the check and he just looks at me. At this point I'm old enough to pay for it, but old enough to know better, so I pick it up and hand it to him. (Don't ask a girl out to an extremely expensive place if you're not willing to foot the bill!)

There was this guy from work that i had a hugge crush on for around two years. I never told him anything. One day wile we were going on the elevator files feel from his hands and i helped him pick them up. after we just started talking. a few days go by and finnaly he asked me out on a date. He said if we could go watch a movie and i told him sure let me see what movies are now playing so i go online and find one that we both like so he says can you buy them online and i will get money aout of the atm later because i dont have my credit cards on me now tyhere up stairs in my loker. I dindt mind and said yes. After the movies we went to olive garden to eat and we were having great conversation until it was time to go she came with the check and he gave his card to the waiter and told her put my tab on this and told me how are you paying for yours. My jaw droped but i dindt said anything i pais for my meal and i was the one to leave a tip for the waiter. he took me home and i was thinking he better not charge me for gas. I got out the car and was walking in the house and he tells me can i come inside? I told him i Dont live alone and he Said i dont mind? i told him Maybe some other time. I told my roomate and all she did was laugh. And by the way he never paid me back for the movie tickets...
