I'm kind of shy so I was really excited when this guy I liked finally asked me out. He brought me to an open mic night for our first date. We sat down and after watching two singers, the host came on stage to tell the audience how it was now my turn to sing. I turned to my date asking if this was some kind of joke, and he just said, "I hate how you're so shy and I figured this would be a good way to get you out of your shell." When I refused to go on stage, he started calling me names and making fun of how shy I am. I tried to laugh it off, but after a while, I broke down crying. My date couldn't handle my tears and took off, leaving me alone with an entirely amused audience.

I had to order chair covers,organza sashes and tablecloths at the last minute because the company i had went with was telling me they were on their way and then said oops we don't even have them in stock. Smarty Had A Party really came thru for me not in just a timely manner but in their products as well because it was very good quality. Would i recommend them or ever use again? Most assuredly i would before I would even look at another company. Very Very Impressed.

Smarty Had A Party is your one stop shop for all your party needs! I had been looking for disposable dinnerware for my upcoming wedding reception for the LONGEST time. I didn't want to rent china because I didn't want to deal with the high cost and everything else that comes with it. Then I came across this lovely website and started looking for my ideal china and flatware pieces. Needless to say I bought 280 dinner and side plates, and two boxes of flatware. I was amazed at how classy the gold-rimmed china plates looked and how nice the designs were on the "Reflections" flatware. I might be buying some champagne glasses next!! Love that the boxes of plates came with serving spoons too. For a buffet styled reception, your products are just what I was looking for. I will definitely be recommending this to anyone who wants or thinks about disposable dinnerware! Thanks again Smarty Had A Party!

I once went on a blind date through a video dating service (back in the day). On the way to the restaurant we got lost, and the guy kept using this crazy cartoon voice...we had been talking about Disney, so I thought maybe he was just spoofing a character or something. After finally arriving at a BEAUTIFUL beachside restaurant, I finally broke down and asked him which Disney character he was trying to imitate. He said (in his normal voice), "Oh, that's not a Disney character...that's my IMAGINARY FRIEND! He comes out when I'm really nervous.". What's terrible is that while I was terrified, I stayed through dinner because the restaurant was so cool! (shallow, I know). He wanted the date to continue past that, but I lied and told him I had a business trip with a very early flight out the next morning. The next day, he left a message on my answering machine (in the IMAGINARY friend voice) asking me to go away with him for the weekend....needless to say, I did not return the call!

A Dangerous Dinner

After a month of my friends trying to set me up with this guy, I finally agreed. He's not the best looking guy, but my friends promised he had a great personality. I beg to differ. We met in the city one really cold night and he wasn't even wearing a coat. When I asked him why, he said it was because he didn't want to hide his beautiful shirt. It was the ugliest pinstripe silk shirt I ever saw that he had actually tucked into khakis and was wearing with New Balance sneakers. We talked awkwardly for a few minutes and then walked to a nearby restaurant where he decided to order for me while I was in the bathroom. It wouldn't have been so bad had I not gotten the worst allergic reaction of my life after a few bites of my chicken with PEANUT sauce. My throat started to close up, hives appeared all over my body, and my entire face began to swell. Luckily, I had my epipen because I shoved it into my dates hands and forced him to stab me with it after shrieking my lungs out. Oh, and after he injected me… he passed out.. right there on the restaurant floor. WORST DATE EVER!

First and Worst Date Ever!

3 weeks before my 15th Birthday a Son of one of my parents friends asked my parents, not me, if he could take me out on a date after I turned 15. The Sat after my birthday we had our date. He showed up late. I had no ideal where we were going. He picked me up and drove to the gas station for gas. I thought this was odd, but it would be the highlight of the night. He drove straight to the riverbank hopped over the front seat and patted the seat beside him for me to join him. When I refused he tried to convience me that this how all the other girls at school got popular. I told him to take me home. He was extremely mad. As he was driving me home we pass a Burger King. A girl he knew was entering the store. He said Great this is my luck, stuck with you when I run into her. I told himto stop and let me out and I would walk home. He said no a "Gentleman" does not do things like that. I told him he had not been a "Gentleman" all night, why start now. He dropped me off and told my parents that I was too immature for my age and if he were them he would not let me date again until I was 16 or older! He left but returned 30 mins later with a Burger King cup in his hand. I asked him if he caught her. He was so clueless that he didn't even know how I knew he went looking for her. So he was not only a loser he was an idiot too!

I ordered 120 of the "Reflections Grand Dinner Forks & Knifes", I was really skeptical at first. I thought "plastic dinner forks & knifes that look real? Get out of here!" But after searching over 20 different websites with near quality or same exact products sold at more expensive prices... I decided to give "Smarty Had a Party" and take a chance... Keep in mind these are for my Wedding in June! I originally wanted real silverware, but it's so expensive and we're on a budget, these products though from Smarty's were AMAZING! I was scared to open the box but when I did I was greatly relieved! The plastic forks and knifes looked real!!! And they were shiny!!! And they were heavy!!! The tips had a nice clean sharpened edge and didn't look like they were popped out of a mold! My fiancee looked at the bag of "Silverware" and "Oh! You bought real silverware? HAHAHAHA!!!! NO! They're PLASTIC! He couldn't believe it! He had to pick them up and exam them. The only difference is the weight, but these forks and knifes are heavy and much better quality than the type you buy at the store! I'll buy from here again any day!

I was sckeptical to say the least and so worried that the items were going to come looking of cheap plastic.. But they are not cheap plastic they are amazing and very sturdy I love everything From the Offin tablecloths to the 9oz cups!! Wow! What a fantastic company! Placed order, shipped and received all in just a few days! I was asked to help decorate the reception hall for a dear family friend on a very tight budget. Not only was I able to find almost everything I needed but it was all very reasonably priced and of great quality. Our tables are going to be elegant and beautiful from the chaircovers and sashes to the silver flatware. I can't wait to set up and see the look on the brides face when she see how great her room is going to look. Thanks Smarty for helping me to have a great party!

My worst date was actually a 3rd date with a guy who sold me my cell phone. The first date was to a concert and included a 20 minute car ride that was like pulling teeth for conversation. It ended well enough so I agreed to a second afternoon date of lunch and a walk through a park...again the conversation fell a little short and involved too many awkward silence moments for my liking. Clearly, agreeing to a third date was all me to blame. We started the date with a dinner at a BYO where I brought a bottle of wine since we agreed I knew more about vino. Dinner conversation was a struggle but the wine helped me get through it. 2 glasses in he tells me he's feeling kind of drunk...I barely had a buzz. Regardless, he pays for dinner like a gentlemen and we head to a Hard Rock Cafe for some after dinner drinks. This time, 2 Mich Ultra's in (I moved onto the hard stuff at this point) he starts to open up about his childhood and how he was fostered by a horrendous woman...who used to lock him in a closet...and "touch" him. At this point he is crying and telling me he thinks I am his sole mate. The night ends with him helping me into a cab and attempting and awkward kiss that lands on my cheek/chin. Now, I am not heartless or insensitive to his horrific childhood but as far as I'm concerned it was a little too much information for a 3rd date that was proceeded by moments of uncomfortable silence and would be more suited for a close friend and/or therapist. After a few days of ignoring him blowing up my phone, I finally told him that it just wasn't going to work out.

After ending a 5 year relationship, I had no interest in dating for awhile, and just wanted to go out and enjoy life. A guy friend had invited me out for drinks, and we ended up meeting up with two other male friends of his. I started talking to one of the guys who ended up being incredibly smart, funny, and was from the next town over from me a few states away. After talking for a few hours, he asks me if I am dating anyone. I tell him no, and he asks, "Do you want to?" I explained that I wasn't really interested in dating given that I had just ended a relationship. He persists and says, "How about a 'non-date?' We could hang out. Go swimming." So finally, I think, clearly this must be fortuitous meeting this remarkable man, why not agree to a date? We agree to a date for a week in the future. At the end of the night, he offers to walk me home, and I decline. An hour later, he calls to make sure I got home ok. I think, "What a thoughtful guy." The next day, he facebook friends me and I send him a text saying I'm looking forward to our "non-date" in a week. And that's when the good part ends... By the following day, he unfriends me from facebook and never responds to the text. Upon urging from my friends, I google him and find out he has been arrested in the past for multiple alcohol related charges and pulling a gun on his neighbors who were partying too loudly. I count my blessings and assume he must have thankfully changed his mind. A few weeks later, I am attending a party, when this guy shows up with a group of people. I decide to ignore him and get wasted with my friends instead. Towards the end of the night, one of the girls he came in with walks up to me and says, "Never talk to my boyfriend again." So apparently in addition to him being a criminal, he has a girlfriend. Awesome. When I tell my guy friend who introduced me to the guy about all of this, he laughs and says, "The other friend of mine really liked this guy's girlfriend, so we were pushing you to hook up with him, so he could sleep with her. We told him you weren't interested in anything serious." Best non-date ever.

So my friend had met this seemingly really nice guy online. He was planning to take her out for her birthday but didn't want to come to town alone, he lived 2 hours away. So she told him she had a friend for his friend, ME! I get a call from her asking me to do her a big birthday favor and go out with his friend. Normally I would never go out on a blind date as I don't trust other people to set me up, they are always wrong about who I will get alone with. Anyways I agreed since it was her birthday. She tells me great he already has my number. Well he finally calls. Seems like a nice guy. We talk for a while. I am thinking this could actually be fun. We talked about the usual. You know, whats your favorite movie, what do you do for fun, what do you do for work. Well he tells me he is a carnival worker. Yes, thats right, a CARNEY. Fine, its just a job and nothing to judge anyone on right? So the next day he calls me at like 7 am. Just wanted to talk. Ok... so I tell him I have a bunch of house work to do and I will call him later. He called me about a dozen times by 3pm. I am now trying to figure out a way to get out of this blind date. My friend talks to her date and he says, "oh he just gets like that when he is nervous, he likes you". OK fine. Date night finally comes. My friend and I go meet up with the guys at the karaoke place. And there he is. He described himself as being tall, just over 6' with short brown hair, bright blue eyes and broad shoulders. Well he was tall, much more than 6', almost disturbingly tall. And his short brown hair, more like bald, can't really say he had bright blue eyes cuz they were so bloodshot. As for broad shoulders, he was built like the scarecrow. Now I am not shallow but carney work suited him. Still, I love karaoke and I am going to make the best of this situation. Or so I thought. Most men who take a woman to a bar will buy her a drink, well he was broke, fine. But he didn't even offer to get me a free glass of water. He spent the entire night trying to rub up on my leg. When I didn't respond to that the way he wanted he started to cry. He then got drunk on tequila, with money he stole from his friends wallet and spent some time in the bathroom screaming "Why won't she love me!" His friend was so ticked about him stealing money from his wallet that he drove home without him. My date proceeded to call me around 3am, asking for a ride home because he was stuck walking. When I said no he hung up, fine by me. The next day he calls me to apologize. I asked him how he got home. First he says he walked. I ask him how he walked more than 120 miles in about 5 hours. He finally says he got a ride, lets the name slip, turns out its his girlfriend who gave him a ride. This is why I don't do blind dates, my friend still owes me a huge favor for even ever passing my number on to that guy.

More than a trifecta

A guy took a lot of courage and asked me out on a date while I was working. He seemed really nervous and though he wasn't very attractive to me he seemed sincere and I wanted to give him a chance. He didn't have anything to write my number down so I had to write his down and call him the night of our date to find out where he was going to take me. When I call he asks me to come to him and I end up driving a half an hour to get to his House! so that I could Pick Him Up, and drive us to a restaurant (which I picked because he said he didn't know anything that was around his house) The night got worse when he tells me he used to be an alcoholic but that having his 2 beers shouldn't be that bad. I also found out that he held a minimum wage job that his brother got him, lived in the basement of his brothers house and did nothing but watch TV when he wasn't working, but didn't pay attention to any shows that he watched. The night was just about done, filled with awkward pauses and me trying to carry the conversation. When we were leaving the restaurant he tells me he can't wait to have more kids, because he never gets to see his son and daughter, because they live an hour away. Turns out he hadn't seen them in a year because he couldn't find a ride! Needless to say I was glad he never got my number or found out where I lived.

I actually had the nerve of trying to date an ex again. We first dated when I was 16 and 2 months later we broke up because he was a control freak. Well, 4 years had passed and we had bumped into each other again. He just wanted me to come along to pick out a christmas present for an angel tree child and then we would head to a Chick-fil-A afterwards to eat, just a casual date. I agreed. Well, after coming from Toys R Us and Marshalls, we head to the car in the parking lot and got in. The car did not crank. We spent over 30 minutes in the parking lot trying to fix the car. I ended up getting a ride with another guy I was talking to who is actually my fiance' now (I walked somewhere else for him to pick me up out of respect). All of our dates have ended badly and it just put a bad taste in my mouth about us being together.

In my early 20s, I landed a date with the hottest girl ever. she liked to drink beer, I did not. But I did not tell her this for fear she would not like me. We split a 12 pack and a friend drove us around. We were in the back seat, making out. Suddenly, I felt sick. I turned towards the window and threw-up in my mouth. Alot. I managed to swallow it, asked for some gum and we continued making out. It was awful.

I was the average guy in college. Average looks, in good physical shape--not overweight, clean car (but certainly not new), but a member of the most popular fraternity on campus. I can count at least FIVE dates that I had so women could attend the parties with me and meet my fraternity brothers. At least three of them left with the "studs". I would open the doors, pay for the meals and movies and on at least more than one occasion showed up at the dorm to pick my date up with a single rose in hand. I guess that was too corny for most of you hot chicks. Better off that it didn't work out, because I met a really sweet girl who didn't care about my car, how tall I was, or whether I made the varstity team. Now 20 years later I am happily married, quite successful in a national franchise (I'm taking your money through your kids; sweet!), and most of the old boys are fat, out of shape, and have average jobs. I'm on this site because I'm shopping for dinnerware I can throw away on the holidays, so my lovely wife doesn't have to clean up a huge mess while I watch football (sound familiar?). So, the next time a "nice guy" asks you out and ditch him in favor of the flavor of the week, you may be passing up a real diamond in the rough.

While in college a meet a guy through a mutual friend. He seemed very nice and intelligent and he asked me out on a date so I said yes. We went to a Chinese buffet and I noticed someone there that I knew. I briefly said "Oh look, there's..." and my date looked me in the eye and said "If you don't stop disrespecting me I'm gonna slap you with this pork chop bone!" And yes he was so serious. I immediately got up from the table, ran out, got in my car and speed off. LOL!!
